Police appeal for help to trace missing Galashiels woman

Police are appealing for help to track down a Galashiels woman reported missing yesterday, February 22.

Melita Hachey was last seen by neighbours in the town's Livingstone Place on Friday afternoon, February 21, and concerns are growing for her welfare.

It is believed that the 30-year-old might have made her way to Leaderfoot via Gattonside or Melrose by foot.

Melita is described as white, 5ft 5in tall and of slim build, with brown hair cut in a bob style.

Inspector Scott Finlay, of Melrose police station, said: “Around 2.45am on Saturday, February 22, police received a report of a 30-year-old woman missing from the Galashiels area, and we are growing increasingly concerned for the welfare of Melita.

"I am appealing for any persons who may know of her whereabouts or anyone that may have seen a female walking in the area of Melrose, Gattonside or Leaderfoot late on Friday night or early Saturday morning to contact us.

"Police inquiries are ongoing, and we are working with partners to trace her",

Any sightings of Melita can be reported to police on 101, quoting incident number 640 of February 22.
