The team of six ladies turning old pillow cases and duvet covers into drawstring bags capable of holding a full set of used medical scrubs say they are ideal for those frontline staff at the Borders General Hosital who are treating Covid-19 sufferers and prefer to take their own uniforms home to wash.

They, and other care staff across the region, are receiving almost daily deliveries of the bags, with more than 150 donations already distributed from Selkirk post office.

“So far the bags have been distributed to the health centres, care homes and various wards within the Borders General Hospital.

“We’re told the workers are really grateful for them, and there’s a waiting list for them already.”
