Earlston Community Council’s Covid-19 response group is no different, and it has a team of volunteers helping residents with shopping, collecting prescriptions, providing a friendly chat where required and generally offering support.

All the volunteers in the group are wearing a community council hi-vis vest and a lanyard to identify themselves, be insured and keep residents safe.

All households in the Earlston area should have by now received a leaflet through their letterbox informing them about the services on offer and how they can contact the team.

The group’s spokesperson, Sheila Gibb, said: “If you are in Earlston or the surrounding are and need help or more information, the group’s phones are manned from Monday to Saturday from 9am to 3pm.

“Please call our confidential on-call co-ordinators on 07906 990725 from 9am to 11am, on 07918 902778 from 11am to 1pm and on 07805 879846 from 1pm to 3pm.

“Further information is available from the community council website, and on Facebook and Twitter.

“We are here to help you to stay at home and to stay safe.”
