Smailholm Tower lit up the sky on Saturday night, marking both World Storytelling Day and the 250th anniversary on Sir Walter Scott's birth.

Scott fans around the globe were invited to view the stunning display of a short animated film, Young Scott, created by artist and director Andy McGregor, on the new anniversary website www.WalterScott250.com, and is still available to watch.
Organisers chose to site the projection at Smailholm as that is where Scott spent some of his childhood, and the light show was visible for miles around.
The broadcast also included an interview with Outlander author Diana Gabaldon, amongst others.
