Selkirk set for selfie publicity

Selkirk Means Business, the royal burgh’s business improvement district team, has come up with an innovative idea to get the town clicking again.

Townsfolk and visitors alike are being asked to download flags, a crown, or a selfie frame, which can be printed off, stuck on card and mounted on a dowel rod, to accompany photos of their favourite place or person in the town, and then post it on social media with the hashtag #exploreselkirk.

Selkirkshire councillor Caroline Cochrane, who also co-runs the post office in the Market Place, told the town’s community council meeting via video-link on Monday night: “We’ve got postcards and little selfie sticks in the post office as well so that people can go out with their phone and share it on their own page.

“We’ve also got a large selfie board which anyone can take out and take photos.

“It’s all centred around getting the word out that Selkirk is once again open for business.”
