Police inform family of Kelso’s Andrew Moriarty after body found in River Tweed

The body of a man was found in the River Tweed this afternoon, April 2, near Norham in Northumberland.

Police Scotland revealed that the discovery was made near the village of Upsettlington at around 1pm.

A police spokesperson said: “While formal identification has yet to take place, the family of Andrew Moriarty, who was reported missing from the Kelso area on Sunday, March 1, have been informed.

“Inquiries are ongoing into the circumstances surrounding the death.”

Mr Moriarty’s family and friends have been trying to track down the “gentle giant” ever since his disappearance, even after the formal search for the 28-year-old, of Hendersyde Park in Kelso, was called off over a week ago.
