Police believe fire at Galashiels warehouse was started intentionally

Police are appealing for witnesses after firefighters tackled a blaze in a warehouse in Melrose Road, on the outskirts of Galashiels, on Monday afternoon.

Firefighters tackled a blaze in a warehouse in Melrose Road, on the outskirts of Galashiels, on Monday afternoon.

The building, which formerly housed the Farne Salmon fish processing site, sits opposite the Volvo showroom and garage.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 2.51pm on Monday, November 30, to reports of a fire within a storage facility on Melrose Road in Galashiels. Operations Control mobilised four appliances to the scene, where crews worked to extinguish the fire.

“There were no reported casualties. Firefighters left after making the area safe.”
