Family events in place of St Boswells Fair Week

While the St Boswells Fair Week is once again a victim of the current coronavirus restrictions, villagers are marking the occasion with some Covid-friendly events.

It’s also hoped that if restrictions are eased in the near future, some of the more traditional events can take place later in the summer.

But for now, villagers will make do with some family-centred fun, such as a family-friendly quiz and an information and activity trail, organised by members of the Village Week committee.

A spokesperson told The Southern: “Last year’s local knowledge questions posed as part of an online village celebration got lots of people talking and sharing facts about St Boswells.

"This year the committee decided to create a ‘Tour of St Boswells’ fact trail, posting historical information about key village features at several locations.

"Each information card contains a local knowledge question and a QR code link to a family-friendly activity.

Villagers can walk around the village to find the 11 information cards, or follow the village Facebook page from the comfort of their own houses, for clues about the locations and the QR code links.

“The village committee hope that this activity will give people the opportunity to learn some new facts about St Boswells and enjoy a family-friendly walk around the village.”

“If restrictions allow, the committee are hoping to host a more traditional Family Football, Fancy Dress, Village Race and Village Fair Day in late summer.”
