Breach of bail conditions
A Hawick woman breached her bail conditions by turning up at a flat in Lothian Street after she was told her possessions were being thrown out of the premises.
Nora Clancy, 41, turned up with a case to put her belongings in, but when police were called to the scene it was found to contain a Stanley knife.
She pleaded guilty to two charges of breaching bail and possession of a bladed article on the evening of September 3.
Defence lawyer Ed Hulme told Jedburgh Sheriff Court his client had suffered a significant alcohol problem since 13 years of age.
He continued: “She was told her former partner was putting her belongings out of the house. She went down to collect her belongings but was intoxicated at the time.
“She had borrowed the knife from a friend to do some DIY and forgot it was there.”
Clancy was given a community payback order with 12 months’ supervision.
