A68 road partially blocked near Jedburgh after lorry sheds load

The main A68 remains partially blocked almost four hours after a lorry shed its load south of Jedburgh this afternoon.

A heavy goods vehicle with a trailer carrying bales toppled off the north-bound carriageway on the Jedburgh side of Carter Bar around 1.30pm.

The ambulance service was first on the scene, followed later by a fire crews and officers from Police Scotland. They remain in place at the moment, with the lorry and its shed load yet to be cleared from the road and verges.

The A68 there is passable with care, and police are ushering traffic through the one open lane.

It is not yet known whether anyone was injured.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Spokeswoman said: “I can confirm we are in attendance at this time, but I cannot give any further information.”
