And this year has the support of the independent agricultural merchants McCreath, Simpson and Prentice.

The firm are acting as official partners of Christmas Mission for the second year running.

Richard Simpson, vice-chairman of Simpsons Malt (MSP’s parent company), said this week: “We are absolutely delighted to be in partnership with Radio Borders and Mission Christmas for the second time and help to bring joy to disadvantaged children at Christmas.

“As a company we pride ourselves on supporting a wide variety of organisations in the borough of Berwick-Upon-Tweed and we are encouraging our employees, and local residents, to donate a present at one of the many drop off locations.”

Candy Rafferty,
Cash for Kids charity manager, explained further: “Radio Borders Mission Christmas aims to make sure that every child within our broadcast area wakes up to presents on Christmas morning.

“Without the very valued support of our sponsor McCreath, Simpson and Prentice, our charity, Cash for Kids, would simply not be able to accomplish this.

“Last year over 700 children, for whom Christmas would have been just another day, received a sack full of gifts donated by our kind-hearted communities.

“Awareness of the campaign is generated by sponsorship but MSP go much further than that.

“Their staff all get behind the campaign, donating gifts and much needed cash so we can source gifts for teenagers and babies, which are harder to come by.

“Year on year, the number of children on our lists increases by over 100.

“However with MSP once again behind the campaign, we are confident that this increase will be matched, and every child in our region will have a happy Christmas.”
