Man in hospital after murder attempt in Galashiels

A man is in hospital after what police in the Borders are treating as a murder attempt earlier today.

The 30-year-old victim was attacked at around 1.30am today, March 18, in a flat in Torwoodlee Road in Galashiels.

He sustained what are described as serious injuries to his torso and face, and he has been taken to the Borders General Hospital at Melrose for treatment.

The identity of the victim has not been released, and no description of his attacker, or attackers, has been issued by police.

Police are appealing for any potential witnesses to come forward.

Detective Inspector Paul Batten said: “We believe that this was a targeted attack, and detectives, with support from local officers, continue to conduct inquiries in the area.

“As part of our investigation, we’d urge anyone who may have been in the Torwoodlee Road area around this time to get in touch.

“Likewise, anyone with information about this incident which may be able to help is asked to come forward.”
