Man attacked by gang of teenagers outside Kelso hotel

The 30-year-old man was targeted by the boys, believed to be aged 14 to 16, in Bridge Street in Kelso at about 3am yesterday.

The youths chased their victim along Bridge Street, catching up with him outside the Ednam House Hotel, and two of them then assaulted him.

The victim sustained a minor eye injury not requiring medical attention, according to police.

Officers investigating the attack are appealing for any witnesses to come forward to help them identify and trace the culprits.

The suspects are all believed to have been sporting red or orange face-paint below their eyes.

Sergeant Andy Leigh, of Lauder police station, said: “This was a distressing incident for the victim, and we are eager to trace the three teenagers involved in this attack as soon as possible.

“I would ask anyone who was in the Bridge Street area of Kelso in the early hours of Sunday, April 3, and saw anything suspicious to please get in touch with us immediately.”
