Local girls take top prizes in Burns competition

More than 50 competitors recently attended the annual Borders Association of Burns Clubs, Junior (P4-7) and Senior (S1-6) Schools Burns Competition in Hawick Burns Club.

Although numbers were lower than usual, the standard was extremely high giving the judges quite a headache in choosing class winners in Recitation, Singing and Instrumental.

All class winners and runners-up are automatically entered into the National Competitions later in the year at Edinburgh.

Pictured here are both the Junior and Senior Burnsians (Jemima Bevan and Madeline Cawthorn), chosen as the best by all the judges.
