Lending a hand

Damion Asquith, Preparation for the Armed Services lecturer at Borders College, was approached by Peebles drama group Tweed Theatre to assist with providing some props for their recent youth production of Sunshine on Leith. Sunshine on Leith 'follows the highs and lows of Ally and Davy as they return home to Leith from the army,' meaning that army uniforms and paraphernalia would be required by the company to enhance the staging of their show.

Access to Learning Lecturer Yvonne Brunton put Tweed Theatre in touch with Damion who sourced suitably sized uniforms and helmets for the cast as well as providing webbing and wooden replica rifles, even having the replica rifles made and painting them himself at home.

Special mention was given to Damion and Borders College in the production’s programme - “Additional thanks to Damion Asquith, Preparation for the Armed Services Course at Borders College for the loan of uniforms and weaponry.”
