As part of the visit, Ms Davidson spoke at a round table meeting organised by the Scottish Borders Chamber of Commerce in St Boswells before attending a street stall in Kelso.

During her visit, the Scottish Conservatives leader said: “Politicians can help by creating the right environment to encourage economic growth. That’s why my party rejects plans by the SNP to make Scotland the highest taxed part of the UK.

“Putting up the warning sign ‘higher taxes here’ will only drive away investment and weaken the Borders economy.”
