Tour De Lauder treasurer Paul Richardson explained: “It has always been the goal of the organising committee to be able to give something back to the community of Lauder. We rely on over 100 volunteers every year to make the event possible, be that undertaking roles on the day or in the run-up to the event itself.”

The main awards have gone to Lauderdale Scout Group, Lauder Primary Parent Council, Lauder in Bloom, Duns Swimming Club and Lauderdale Youth Football Club.

In recognition of the work they do to benefit the local community, financial help has also gone to Wooplaw Wood, Lauder Brownies, Lauder Paths Network, Lauder Amateur Dramatic Society, Lauder Limpers and Lauder After-School Club.

Mr Richardson added: “We already know these awards will be used to help make repairs to the Scout Hall, buy new hanging baskets (with water reservoir), fund a pre-summer trip for the Brownies and fund a swimming gala at Duns in May (which has participants from all over region) – we’ll let you know how the other funds are used via our Facebook page.

“If you think you can help us and volunteer your club or group to help out on the day, please get in touch via our email: [email protected]

The 2018 Tour De Lauder will be held on Saturday, April 21.
