JUS-ROL: '˜Hugely disappointing' decision

Commenting on the announcement that the Jus Rol plant in Berwick is to close later this year with the loss of 265 jobs, Calum Kerr, MP for Berwickshire, Roxburgh and Selkirk, said: 'The closure of Jus-Rol is hugely sad news for the town of Berwick and for the company's workforce on both sides of the Border. This firm has been in the area for half a century and as the largest local employer is very much part of the local community.

“It’s a hugely disappointing decision by the operation’s American parent. Now we have to do everything we can to ensure that the plant and its loyal and hard working staff have a future. I know that town’s MP, Anne-Marie Trevelyan, is doing everything she can along with the dedicated task force to find a new buyer and I’m happy to do anything I can to help her with that process.”
