Hawick firefighters tackle a blaze at the rear of Jedburgh Fire Station

When a fire broke out yesterday, June 22, at the rear of Jedburgh Fire Station no crew there was available – so Hawick firefighters were called into action.

Local Jedburgh photographer Bill McBurnie was passing at the time and caught these images of the blaze in bushes.

Bill said: “I just found it unusual that there was a tender in the station but that the crew in attendance was from Hawick

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 4.11pm on Tuesday, June 22 to reports of a fire in the open at Pleasance, Jedburgh.“Operations Control mobilised one appliance and firefighters extinguished the fire.“There were no reported casualties and crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”
