Former MP Moore secures another top role

We recently we reported how he was taking over the role of chairman at the Brewin Dolphin Borders Book Festival and now comes news that international accountancy and financial advisory firm, PwC, has appointed the former Scottish Secretary to boost its senior team, advising on the devolution agenda across the UK.

In December, PwC launched the Devo Delivery Network, a team of over 350 local and central government experts working across PwC’s 31 UK regional offices. The Devo Delivery Network will support organisations and authorities around devolution and regional economic growth.

Mr Moore’s role will be to advise the Devo Delivery Network, working alongside Stephanie Hyde, PwC Executive Board Head of Regions, and helping PwC clients prepare for transition from devolution deals to project delivery.

Mr Moore is not stranger to the accountancy profession or the firm, already being a qualified chartered accountant and an alumnus of PwC. He qualified in 1991 and gained extensive experience in the firm’s corporate finance team before his election to the House of Commons in 1997.

He will be based in PwC’s Edinburgh office and will operate across the UK, but will not be involved in lobbying activities on behalf of either PwC or its clients.

As a UK government minister, Mr Moore piloted the Scotland Act through Parliament and was a member of the Coalition government that introduced ‘City Deals’ and ‘Growth Deals’ across England. He subsequently served on the Smith Commission which devised the principles and detail of significant additional Scottish devolution measures.
