Hawick flood protection works put on hold due to Covid-19 restrictions
Works on Hawick’s £44m flood protection scheme have been halted for the forseeable future.
That decision, announced today, is in light of the government restrictions put in place country-wide this week in a bid to halt the spread of the coronavirus.
As a result of works being halted the planned nine-month closure of a section of Commercial Road, due to begin last Tuesday was also cancelled.

The flood project team insists it is “fully committed to delivering flood protection to the town” and that updates will follow.
