Galashiels volunteers pick up 62kg of trash

Thirteen volunteers gathered in brilliant sunshine in Galashiels on Saturday to help clear litter from the town’s waterways.

No less than 15 bin bags, weighing 62kg were filled in the Scott Park and the Mousetrap Bridge areas, the latter included 3.7kg of dog poo bags and nappies.Community Council member and Gala Waterways chairperson Liz Jardine said: “It was great to see some new faces come along and assist in the clean-up. I hope our few hours work has helped to enhance Galashiels as we head into the summer.

"We’d like to thank Scottish Borders Council for providing the equipment and for collecting the rubbish.”​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
