Election: John Swinney opens SNP campaign hub

Deputy First Minister John Swinney visited SNP candidate Calum Kerr to open the party’s new campaign hub.

Accompanied by SNP MSP Paul Wheelhouse, from Ayton, Mr Swinney told his audience: “Calum Kerr is just what the Borders needs – a tireless representative who will work for hope and renewal across the region.”

Mr Kerr went on to describe the May election as a choice for voters between the Conservatives and the SNP.

“As your SNP MP, I’ll ensure we get the new start we desperately need. I was born and raised in the Borders and will do my best for everyone living and working here.

“I’ve already been campaigning for a new station at Reston, and I’ll push for a better deal for our embattled farming and fishing communities.

“I’ll work to raise the minimum wage, for better broadband and mobile phone links, to protect our local NHS and support businesses. And I want more powers for Scotland so we can make our own positive choices.”
