Women escape deliberate Hawick house fire unharmed

An investigation is under way following a deliberate fire at an occupied flat in Hawick at the weekend.

Police and fire crews were called to a home in Melrose Court at 4.45am on Saturday, December 28.

Two women who were inside the property at the time of the fire were not injured but taken to the Border General Hospital in Melrose as a precaution.

Police detectives believe this was a targeted attack and are following a positive line of enquiry.
