Two in jail for Hawick pub theft
Two Hawick men who took part in a break-in in a pub at the weekend have been jailed at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.
Jason Lowe, 39, and Paul Madden, 40, pleaded guilty to a charge of theft by housebreaking at the Trinity Bar in Duke Street, Hawick, on Sunday night.
Cash, a charity tin and bottles of alcohol were stolen in the raid. Both men appeared from custody at Jedburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday when Lowe was jailed for eight months and Madden for six months.
Lowe pleaded guilty to a second charge of breaching his bail conditions, but a not guilty plea to possession of a class B drug was accepted by the Crown.
Madden admitted charges of theft and housebreaking with intent to steal. His not guilty plea to a vandalism charge was accepted by the prosecution.
