Thieves break into Hawick butcher shop

Police are appealing for witnesses after a butchers shop was broken into at around 8.20pm yesterday evening.

Three men, described as white and wearing dark clothing were spotted at the scene, at Going Native butchers in Sandbed, Hawick at the time of the break-in.

After forcing entry to the shop, a number of items were taken, including a till, a money tin and a charity box which was on the counter. Officers believe they made off towards Buccleuch Street and may have gone through gardens in Beaconsfield Terrace and on to the west end of the town followin g the incident. Detective Constable Andrew Loughlin from Galashiels CID said: “Entry was forced into the premises and a number of items were taken including a till, a money tin and charity box.

"These items were found nearby, minus the cash, believed to be a two-figure sum.“Enquiries are ongoing to identify those responsible and I would ask anyone who saw anything suspicious at the premises or in nearby streets and gardens to get in touch. “In particular, we would ask people to check any dash-cam footage they might have if they were driving nearby or any private CCTV that might help with our investigation.“If you can help, please contact us on 101 or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, quoting incident number 3351 of Wednesday, M arch, 17.”
