Schoolboy reported after horrific footage emerges online of an attack on a teenager in Hawick last night

The graphic footage was uploaded online only a short time after the attack was carried out last night.

Sergeant Paul Begley, of Hawick Police Station, said: “We received a report of an assault involving a youth in Hawick at around 6.45pm on Thursday, March 25.

"We are also aware of social media posts about the incident.

"Enquiries have been carried out and a 14-year-old male youth will be reported to the youth justice authorities in connection with this incident.”

The incident has resulted in an outpouring of shock and anger on social media, with many comments from those who viewed the footage.

One posted: “Just managed to see it, poor lad, totally horrific.”

Another added: “I seen it and deleted it coz it was horrible”.

Calls were also made for action against the “moron who filmed it”.
