Ed and Georgie Bell and their children Tom, Felicity and Frankie hope that hike in reward money will make their Christmas wish of a reunion with their border terriers Ruby and Beetle – not seen since Friday, December 28, last year – come true.

Their plight has touched the hearts of dog lovers, and a Facebook page they set up in a bid to track down their pets now has more than 14,000 followers.

That support has enabled them to secure, until the end of this month, another £10,000 to add to the £10,000 already on offer for the dogs’ safe return.

Georgie, 46, said: “We need to spread the word as wide as possible. Ruby and Beetle are our family. We are broken without them.

“We just want our wee dogs home, no questions asked. Please, please, if you know anything, do the right thing and help us bring our girls home where they belong.

“We know they are out there somewhere.

“If you know anything at all, there will be no repercussions. We are not interested in prosecution. We just want our two beautiful dogs returned safely so that our family can be complete again in time for Christmas.”
