Kieren Davies, of Kelso, had pleaded guilty on indictment to charges of assault to injury, domestic abuse and behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.

Those offences involved five former partners at various addresses in Berwickshire, Kelso and Edinburgh.

Not-guilty pleas to five other charges were accepted by the crown.

Sheriff Peter Paterson said a disturbing pattern was evident in Davies’s offending so, to reflect the seriousness of the case, the various jail sentences he imposed would be consecutive rather than concurrent, adding up to 32 months behind bars.

That prison sentence was backdated to February 19, that being when Davies was first remanded in custody at Kilmarnock Prison in East Ayrshire in connection with the case.
