Galashiels man accused of four rapes

John Tunnicliffe is charged with committing those offences in 1993, 2017 and 2018.

He also faces a fourth rape charge involving one of the women and another of sexually assaulting one of the alleged victims.

The five alleged offences are said to have been committed at houses in Galashiels and Tweedbank.

Tunnicliffe, of Galashiels, made no plea during a private hearing at Selkirk Sheriff Court, and the case was continued for further examination.

There was no application for bail, and he was remanded in custody.
