Elderly woman hit by egg thrown by teenager in Galashiels

Police are appealing for witnesses to an incident in Galashiels involving an elderly woman being hit by an egg thrown by a teenager.

Two teenagers are reported to have thrown eggs at a house in the town’s Forest Gardens on Tuesday, January 7, at about 2.30pm, hitting the woman after she went out to investigate.

The two suspects are both described as white, aged 15 to 19 and about 5ft 9in tall.

One is said to have had dark facial hair and was wearing a red hooded top with its hood up and a black baseball cap on underneath.

Any potential witnesses are asked to call police on 101, quoting incident 1,714 of January 7.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Persons have come out of the house to check what was happening, and an elderly female has been struck by an egg.

“Fortunately, she has not been injured.

“The suspects made off in the direction of Balmoral Avenue.”
