Car vandalised and window of house smashed in same street in Newtown

Two acts of vandalism in the same street in Newtown in the space of two weeks are being investigated by police.

A car parked at Sprouston Cottages was targeted between 5.30am and 6.30am am on Friday, December 28, and a house window was smashed at about 11.15pm on Sunday, January 12.

The car, a silver Peugeot, had its tyres slashed and bonnet damaged, as well as tins of paint being thrown over it.

That incident was followed two weeks later by a double-glazed window being smashed at a property in the same street.

Police are appealing for anyone able to help them identify the culprits to get in touch with Selkirk police station via 101, quoting incident No 819 of December 28 for the damage to the car or No 3,620 of January 12 regarding the smashed window.
