29-year-old remanded in custody over alleged double murder attempt at Ashkirk
A 29-year-old man has been remanded in custody after being accused of an attempted double murder in the Borders at the weekend.
Martyn Logan is charged with assaulting a 20-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man to their severe injury, permanent disfigurement and danger of life.
That charge follows a reported knife attack on the pair at Ashkirk at around 11.30pm on Friday.
Logan, giving an address in Selkirkshire, also faces charges of being in possession of a bladed article in a public place, theft of a motor car and driving without insurance.
He made no plea during a private hearing at Selkirk Sheriff Court, and the case was continued for further examination.
Bail was refused by sheriff Peter Paterson, and Logan was remanded in custody until his next court appearance.
