Climate change workshop to be held in Peebles

The event on Wednesday 2 December is being held in McFarlane Hall on the High Street starting at 3.45pm and is open to all members of the community.

The event will bring together information gathered by participants from the first workshop held in September about flooding in Peebles.

It will also discuss less visible issues, with a specific focus on older people and young families in Peebles, identified in the last workshop as potentially more climate disadvantaged than others within the town.

This information will help the project discuss alternative situations in Peebles and identify actions.

The workshops are part of the Scottish Borders Climate Resilient Communities project, which is one of two in the UK to be funded by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation climate change and communities programme.

The £100,000 scheme will aim to help Scottish Borders Council (SBC) work alongside local resilience community groups, with Hawick, Newcastleton and Peebles chosen to take part in the 16 month programme.

The project involves SBC alongside other key partners University of Dundee, Tweed Forum, Southern Uplands Partnership, International Futures Forum and the Scottish Association for Marine Science.
