The competition celebrates high standards in the brewing industry. It is set against the backdrop of the Barcelona Beer Festival, an event which spans three days and attracts over 30,000 beer lovers from all over the world to sample over 300 international craft beers.

Around 500 beers were entered into the inaugural contest, in styles from Blonde Ale to Saison. Among other top international breweries, Tempest was awarded Gold for two of its latest beers: Ambiguous amber ale, A Face With No Name, and seasonal apple saison, Saison du Pommes.

Founder and director, Gavin Meiklejohn, joined brewers, Douglas Rowe and James Dyer, to celebrate the successes of the brewery a year after its 32HL brewery move and expansion.

“It’s a fantastic honour to win any award, but we are especially proud to have won these two Gold Awards at Barcelona Beer Challenge,” said Gavin.

“We love what we do, and to be recognised for the dedication to quality that goes into our beer is of course a huge achievement.

“We hope to build on this success throughout the rest of the year, and are excited to see what 2016 holds in store for us here at Tempest.”
