Be health-wise this Easter, say NHS Borders

This week NHS 24 is reminding people to take a few simple steps to look after their health this Easter and over the holiday weekend.

At the Milestone Garden Centre in Melrose youngsters Poppy and Archie Godfrey, launched the Be Health-Wise This Easter campaign, run by NHS 24 on behalf of NHS Scotland.

In the Scottish Borders, all GP surgeries will be open on both Good Friday (March 25) and Easter Monday (March 28) apart from the West Linton and Newcastleton Medical Practices. West Linton will be closed both Good Friday and Easter Monday and Newcastleton Medical Practice just Easter Monday, before re-opening on Tuesday March 29.

People are reminded to check their GP surgery and pharmacy opening hours and make sure they have a supply of over the counter medicines and repeat prescriptions.

The Easter holiday is one of the busiest part of the year for the NHS in Scotland and NHS 24’s Medical Director, Professor George Crooks is urging people to stay safe and be prepared: “It is important that people are as prepared as possible if they want to make the most of the Easter break.”
