£1m contract agreed for Hawick's 3G sports pitch
Malcolm Construction has landed the job of creating the all-weather playing area at the town’s Volunteer Park.
The Glasgow-based company has considerable experience in installing artificial sports pitches, including the 2G one at Selkirk High School opened last year.

Scottish Borders Council’s executive member for sport, Selkirkshire councillor Vicky Davidson, said: “I commend the Hawick clubs who came together and worked hard over the last few years to make sure this site is available for the new 3G pitch.
“I have been happy to champion their vision and commitment to create a complex of upgraded sports facilities at Volunteer Park. It will now only be a few short months until the pitch is open, and I am sure it will be well used from day one.
“Women’s rugby and women’s football in particular are seeing a huge increase in participation across the country, and I know the clubs in Hawick are keen to support this.

“The all-weather surface obviously has a number of benefits, not least that it can be booked back to back without any deterioration.”
