Academies project welcomes new pupils

Headed by Queen Margaret University and Edinburgh College, the scheme has grown from 34 students to 450 in two years, and takes in pupils from across south east Scotland.

Borders College is also involved in providing classes and links with industry partners helps students gain work experience.

The South East Academies Project now offers four academies: hospitality and tourism; creative industries; food science and nutrition; and health and social care.

Kevin McCall, lead senior education officer at SBC, said: “Developing skills for employment in our young people is a very important aspect of our ongoing development of the senior phase within our high schools and we look forward to the continued partnership working in the coming years.”
