Business is brewing up nicely for cafe owners in Peebles after they decided to take on a new challenge.

Artur Budenko and business partner Della Murray have run Della’s coffee shop-cum takeaway in the town’s High Street since July 2019.

Now they have taken over the Ramblers cafe in the Old Town, employing 23 staff between the two outlets.

Polish-born Artur, 35, who has been in Peebles for 13 years, said: “We started Della’s eight months before the pandemic so it was a hard start but we got through, we had to.

"Ramblers is basically for people to sit in and socialise over a cup of coffee and a cake, breakfast or whatever they want.

"People are definitely delighted with the independent businesses in the High Street, which I think are giving people what they want.

"By opening another business I think we are showing people that there is hope after the pandemic.

"There are no empty shops in Peebles, it is such a lovely town to be in and is not struggling compared to some other towns in the Scottish Borders. The future looks bright."
