Duke of Roxburghe set to tie the knot for a second time

Charles Innes-Ker inherited the title and the estimated £100m fortune that goes with it following his father Guy’s death, at the age of 64, in August 2019.

Speculation that he was poised to marry his girlfriend Annie Green, who he met last summer, has now been confirmed with a wedding announcement published in The Times newspaper.

No date has yet been set for the ceremony but it is to take place once coronavirus restrictions have been lifted.

It is speculated that the newlyweds will reside at 200-room Floors Castle, near Kelso, after the nuptials.

The duke, a close friend of Prince Harry, was previously married to Lord Beaverbrook’s daughter Charlotte Aitken, but that marriage lasted less than a year.

He also has a daughter from a six-year relationship with Iranian fashion designer Morvarid Sahafi.

Eton-educated Charles attended Cambridge University before training at Sandhurst Military Academy and serving with the Household Cavalry in Iraq.

He went on to run his own chauffeur business, Capstar, which retrained wounded former servicemen and women.

Since taking over the dukedom he has set about promoting responsible and sustainable staycation tourism in the region, continuing the family’s tradition of conservationism, welcoming visitors and supporting the local economy.

The 31-year-old bride-to-be, who is training to be an occupational therapist, grew up in South Africa, where her stepfather, Patrick Quirk, is one of the leading mining tycoons, while her brother Nick was a member of Oxford’s Bullingdon Club.

This year marks the 300th anniversary of Floors Castle and the estate staff are hoping to stage a number of celebrations. It is the largest inhabited castle in Scotland and family home of to the dukes of Roxburghe since it was built in 1721. The 52,000-acre castle was first opened to the public in 1977 by Guy, 10th Duke of Roxburghe, the year he married Lady Jane Grosvenor, sister of the Duke of Westminster.

That marriage did not last and he married Virginia Wynn-Willias in 1992.
