Tickets, please, for BVAC's annual show.

To celebrate 100 years of motoring in honour of BMW’s 100th birthday, BVAC has invited a few new and special ‘guests’. Top of the guest list is the Junior Leaders Regiment’s Memorial 25 Pounder (25Pdr) QF Field Gun, affectionately known as Vera. Originally built in Glasgow in 1942, she is coming all the way from her base in South Shields in South Tyneside to revisit her Scottish roots.

Visiting courtesy of the ex-Royal Artillery gunners who come together to display her, the gun will be seen in action for a salute in front of Thirlestane Castle, as well as for field demonstrations.

Two other exhibits also making their show debuts are a Routemaster bus, and the very latest technology in green motoring; two TESLA all-electric cars. These high-performance vehicles are capable of 0-60 mph in as little as 2.8 seconds and have auto-pilot capabilities that even include parallel parking on command!

And keeping to the eco theme, one lucky visitor will go home with a GreenEdge CS2 Electric Mountain bike worth £800 which will be raffled on the day at £2 per ticket, in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Fred Magill, BVAC chairperson said, “Our family-oriented show has changed dramatically over the years and has become a popular annual event with people coming from across the UK.

“This year’s show features more than 1200 exhibits covering the motoring spectrum of the last 100 years – everything from Austin Sevens, motorcycles and fire engines to the latest creations from the Jaguar and MG stables.

“The huge range of family attractions also includes a walking jazz band, American-style cheerleaders, emergency services and community vehicles, fun fair, craft tent, static falconry display, food stalls, face painting, bungee trampoline, archery and paint ball.”

BVAC’s annual show takes place on Sunday June 5 at Thirlestane Castle, Lauder. The show, whose major sponsor is Morris Leslie of Perth, is open from 11am. Admission is £9, accompanied children under 16 go free. Parking is free.
