Peebles hospital closed to new admissions
A Borders hospital has been closed to new admissions due to an outbreak of sickness there.
Hay Lodge Hospital in Peebles is turning away new patients and also discouraging visitors from turning up in a bid to bring an outbreak of a suspected stomach bug at the Neidpath Road site under control.
An NHS Borders spokesperson said: “Hay Lodge Hospital is currently closed to admissions as a precaution due to a number of patients experiencing gastrointestinal symptoms.
“Routine visiting is strongly discouraged at this time, and relatives and carers are asked to carefully consider their visits to the hospital.
“The general advice is to stay away from any hospital ward if you or anyone in your family has experienced symptoms of diarrhoea and/or vomiting in the past 48 hours.”
