Test and protect staff are continuing to contact identified staff members who may be affected, with close contacts being advised to self-isolate and being given appropriate advice.

Scottish Borders Council’s environmental health team has worked with Morrisons to complete a deep clean of the store to ensure the safety of staff and customers.

In light of the increase in cases within the Hawick area, visiting to the town’s community hospital and care homes has been temporarily suspended as a precaution.

Anyone experiencing symptoms are asked to self-isolate immediately and book a test ... there is a mobile testing unit in the town’s Teviotdale Leisure Centre car park from 3-5pm until Wednesday, although spaces are restricted.

A joint statement by the council and the local health board read: “Although the risk of catching the virus in Hawick is low, please be extra vigilant.
