NHS Borders’ Health Protection team, supported by Scottish Borders Council, is currently dealing with an outbreak of Covid-19 based around Jedburgh, although not all cases relate to residents of the town.

It has also been confirmed that 17 new cases are associated with family groups and home care services provided across the region by SB Cares.

As a result NHS Borders Incident Management Team carried out an assessment on any risks which could be involved in continuing with the clinics and it has been concluded they can go ahead.

A NHS Borders spokesperson said: “The flu vaccine is the safest and most effective way to keep yourself, your family and others protected from flu this winter. We have strict protocols and precautions in place to minimise the risk of infections when delivering flu vaccinations. These apply to all settings. This year because of Covid-19 there are additional measures in place including social distancing, enhanced hand hygiene and cleaning, staggered appointment times and the requirement to wear face masks or coverings.

“Please note this clinic is by appointment only. Please only attend if you have booked an appointment via our flu vaccination booking hub. Please arrive on time; not early, please also attend alone; unless you need support to attend your appointment and remember to wear your face covering.

“Please do not attend your appointment if you or anyone in your household are showing symptoms of Covid-19, which are a new continuous cough, a fever/high temperature (37.8C or greater) and /or a loss of, or change in, sense of smell or taste.”

If you need to cancel, call the flu vaccination hub number noted on your flu invitation letter.

You should also self-isolate immediately and visit NHS Inform or phone 0800 028 2816 to book a test.
