19 cases of Covid-19 reported in the Borders in the last week

Nineteen new cases of Covid-19 were recorded in the seven day period up to Tuesday, March 2, new figures reveal.

Case numbers are continuing to fall in the Borders.

One dedicated Covid ward remains open in the Borders General Hospital and there are currently five patients with either confirmed or presumed Covid-19 being treated in our hospitals across the region.

Meanwhile, almost 42,000 people in the Borders have now received their first vaccination dose.

Chief Executive of NHS Borders Ralph Roberts, said: “In order to continue to protect each other and our local health and care services it is important the people remain patient and stick with the rules. For now we must continue to only leave home for essential purposes.”
