Parents urged to stop parking so close to Hawick school

Parents dropping off children at the town’s Drumlanrig St Cuthbert’s Primary in the Loan are being urged not to park their cars in restricted areas near the school gates.
“It comes down to inconsiderate motorists at peak times,” Hawick and Hermitage councillor George Turnbull said.

“It is being looked at again by Scottish Borders Council, and we are aware of the potential dangers to children’s safety.”
Community council chairman Cameron Knox added: “Parents need to be educated that their children can walk to school quite safely if they park 100 metres away from the school gates.
“It’s the same at all the schools in Hawick.”
