Head at Borders school reported to have been suspended

A primary school headteacher has reportedly been suspended amid claims of breaches of coronavirus lockdown rules.

Keith Belleville, principal teacher at St Ronan’s Primary School in Innerleithen and Walkerburn Primary, is believed to have been suspended last week.

The former St Ronan’s Games chairman and current secretary of the event, in charge of the St Ronan’s Road and Caberston Road schools since 2009, was unavailable for comment.

A Scottish Borders Council spokeswoman said: “We are unable to comment on individual staffing matters.

“The key workers’ childcare hub for the Peebles cluster schools area continues to have the appropriate management cover in place.”
