Rain fails to dampen Teviothead show


Overall champion was a Cheviot gimmer shown by David Goodfellow, Falnash Farm, Teviothead, Hawick who lifted the Wisp trophy.
A slightly damp morning didn’t deter a good turnout for the sheep judging while entertainment from the Hawick Scout Pipe Band, terrier racing, hound trail and dog show in the afternoon kept everyone amused.

Hide AdThere was keen competition in the industrial tent and while there was a smaller display of sticks this year in other sections, it was good to see some new competitors sharing in the prizes.
Chairman Kevin Duncan said: “Good teamwork ensures everything falls into place and everyone’s enthusiasm and friendliness makes it a great social occasion.”
Trophy winners: Cheviot champion - David Goodfellow, Falnash; opposite sex to champion, David Goodfellow; ewe and own ewe lamb - Mark Little, Potholm; North Country Cheviot - W N Douglas, Whitehope; Cheviot mule - Scott Anderson, Parkhill; any other breed - Ryan Jamieson, Skelfhill (Texel); homebred male - Graham Cakebread, Commonside; Blackface champion - Alan McClymont, Kirkstead; opposite sex to champion - Scott Lambie, Acreknowe; group - Alan McClymont; ewe and own ewe lamb - Alan McClymont; prime lambs Graham Cakebread.
