She’s also worked on photo shoots for leading brands and companies, among them Vogue, Warner Brothers, Jaguar Land Rover, BT Sports and William Hill, in addition to working behind the scenes on the Channel 4 soap opera Holyoaks.

Perth-born Selena, 32, moved to Glasgow when she was 19 to take up hairdressing work, before moving on to Edinburgh, Manchester and latterly Liverpool.

Now she has decided to settle in Ancrum with husband David and the couple’s children James, two, and eight-month-old Lily.

Selena will continue to travel for work but wants a stable upbringing for her children, an aim made more certain with the support of her mum, Trudi, who lives in Lauder.

She said: “The main part of the move to the Borders was to give the children a good start in life. I think they’ll have a great upbringing in the Borders. Don’t get me wrong, I love Liverpool but I just think it’s so much safer here, there’s less pollution and more for them to do.”

Selena, who also enjoys bridal work assignments, looked back on the highlights her career, saying: “Holyoaks was like working with a family and I’ve stayed friends with quite a lot of the crew and cast. I did Fernando Torres’ make-up when he was in Liverpool for a documentary on his career, it’s just out on Amazon, and also did Steven Gerrard’s make-up for his interview on that.

“Steven was telling me how he loved it in Scotland and Fernando was one of the nicest footballers I’ve ever worked with. His wife had one of her children when I did and we bonded over that. Covid-19 has impacted hugely on my work but I now feel settled.”
