Kelso company celebrates one that didn't get away

Kelso company FishPal has landed a major tourism award for innovation.

The firm, which provides an online information and booking system for all types of salmon and trout fishing, won the Scotland CAN DO Award for Innovation at the Scottish Thistle Awards.

Mark Cockburn, chief executive, said: “We are a company that has grown massively during the last decade, with more rivers, beats, information and advice available to customers now than at any point before.

“Our audience is at a record level and growing as we continue to develop the site with new and innovative ways to search and find fishing, our latest being “map search”.

“As the ‘go to’ fishing company we are pro-actively searching to improve, help and support our customers – anglers, proprietors, river boards, advertisers and angling clubs.

“I am incredibly proud of this achievement for which I have to thank the entire team for their hard work and passion for the sport. A huge thank you to those who help represent us at shows and festivals across the globe, spreading the word that Scotland is a world class fishing destination.”

The Scottish tourism ‘Oscars” celebrate businesses or suppliers across the country who have gone the extra mile to offer an outstanding visitor experience.

The judges described the site as a “great product, demonstrating excellent results”.
